This morning I watched a short video posted by the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance on Twitter. A naturalist took readings from a spring in the woods near the stables, compared the electrical conductivity of that water with Tibbet’s Brook and Van Cortlandt Lake, showed caddisfly larva, and discussed the significance of these findings.
While he was streaming, someone insisted on repeatedly posting comments complaining about the fact that he was masked and objecting to Darwin, apparently because only Darwinists believe in aerosol spread of COVID-19!?
Checking the spring this morning. |
I checked the bio of the critic. He is a Trumpist from Austin, Texas.
We are 1500 miles away.
We are still running borough coronavirus positivity rates around 10%.
Austin is still struggling to get power and water restored after last week’s storm.
But this man felt the need to tune in to a talk about freshwater springs in Bronx parks and object to our masking.
I despair for the future of humanity.
